“There are more than 400 rare coin dealers trading among each other on the CCE network with over 175,000 coins in the electronic marketplace and a combined value in excess of $200 million. With this new service, the Collector’s Corner division now allows collectors to tap into this market and buy directly from dealers with potential savings because there are no listing fees or commissions that are paid by buyers or sellers on the transactions,” explained Cassi East, President of CCE, a division of Collectors Universe, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLCT).

The CCE Collector’s Corner is a marketplace for the sale of both certified (“slabbed”) and not certified (“raw”) coins that are posted for sale by dealers who are registered members of the Certified Coin Exchange.

“This is the first time in the 40-year history of the CCE/FACTS network that listed coins are available directly to the general public. The initial response to the just-launched program has been extremely positive. Within the first week, we had more than 37,000 items posted for sale with a combined value of over $29 million,” said East.

“We expect that many dealers will want to join CCE in order to market their coins to both dealers and the retail buyers, and we expect many collectors will visit Collector’s Corner to browse and perhaps purchase from the huge selection.”

CCE was started in the 1960’s as the Fox and Crabbe Teletype System (FACTS) dealer network. In the 1990’s, it was converted from teletype to the Internet. Today the CCE network provides a marketplace for the buying and selling of United States and world rare coins, bullion coins, bank notes and numismatic supplies, with an average of 1,000 messages a day.
